2010 Art Competition for primary and special school pupils

The winners of the Commission´s 2010 Art Competition have been announced!

The Commission had a great response to the competition receiving over 1,000 entries of a very high standard. Many of the entries on this year´s theme, "Life without Labels" addressed equality related issues such as prejudice and discrimination using vivid and colourful imagery. It´s a real achievement to be named a winner or runner-up, so congratulations to all of the following pupils.

Prize-giving Event
On 23 March, competition winners and runners-up, attended a special prize-giving ceremony in the Commission where they were awarded with prizes of art materials and framed copies of their artwork by Commissioner, Murray Watt.

The artwork of the four winners (Louise Kelly, Beth Campbell, Cara McLoughlin and Eamon Loughran) has been used to advertise the Commission´s Equality for all Campaign on buses throughout Northern Ireland. Pupils experienced the thrill of seeing their artwork first hand when a bus featurning their winning poster visited each of their schools.

Highly Commended

Given the high standard of entries, the Commision has recognised the work of a further 15 pupils as highly commended and they are to received framed poster reproductions of their artwork. The highly commended pupils are as follows:
