Chief Commissioner condemns racially motivated hate crimes

Chief Commissioner condemns racially motivated hate crimes
06/11/2017
Response to recent race hate attacks

Dr Michael Wardlow

Dr Michael Wardlow, Chief Commissioner of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, said:

“Racist attacks over the past few days are a grim reflection of the persistence of racial prejudice within our society.

We have to assure members of minority ethnic communities here that the great majority of people in Northern Ireland are shocked by these attacks and that they have our support.

There should be a clear, positive response from police, public authorities and local communities, and the Equality Commission will continue to work within the community and with all of these bodies to combat racial discrimination and challenge prejudice within Northern Ireland.”
