Disability Rights in NI: UKIM report and supplementary submissions

Disability Rights in NI: UKIM report and supplementary submissions
20/02/2017
UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and the NI Human Rights Commission have submitted their supplementary report to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The submission was jointly produced in our role as the “Independent Mechanism” in Northern Ireland to promote, protect and monitor the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

We hope that this will be of interest to NI Executive Departments with respect to the development of a revised Disability Strategy for NI and the delivery plan for Programme for Government Indicator 42 ‘Average life satisfaction score of life of people with disabilities’ in order to ensure the effective implementation of the articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Northern Ireland.
