Commission comment on Lord Kilclooney's twitter reference to Taoiseach.

Dr. Michael Wardlow, Chief Commissioner of the Equality Commission said,

"The swift and universal reaction to Lord Kilclooney’s twitter reference to the Taoiseach, now withdrawn, shows that there is a growing expectation in Northern Ireland of the need for people in public positions to be conscious of the impact on equality and good relations of the language they use.  The example given by those in leadership roles should always be such as would encourage people to show genuine respect for everyone, without irrelevant references to race, nationality or colour."
