The new ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ award was supported by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and Chief Commissioner, Geraldine McGahey was keen to find out more about diversity and inclusion in practice at NI Water, which operates under the company’s tagline ‘Here, everyone matters’.

Speaking at a visit to NI Water today, Chief Commissioner, Geraldine McGahey said: ‘Developing a positive culture of diversity and inclusion in the workplace is a key aspect of many of today’s successful business models. NI Water are a major employer who have successfully embraced this practice across their organisation.

“Other employers in Northern Ireland could learn from NI Water’s example. We continue to urge employers to fully explore the benefits of embracing diversity and inclusion both for their business and their employees too. We know that these benefits have the potential to be amplified across wider society, which will ultimately benefit us all.”

Sara Venning, CEO at NI Water, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award against exceptional competition for our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment which benefits our colleagues and our community.

“This achievement and our success at the recent Business in the Community Awards, is testament to the culture we have created at NI Water, to ensure that everyone is welcome and included, people are valued for who they are and for the contributions they make in delivering what matters to Northern Ireland.

“To each and every employee who has played a key role in our success, all of these awards are for you. It is a privilege to be a part of this organisation”.
