Lodging a ET1 claim form

When you are ready to proceed with your complaint of discrimination you will need to complete an ET1 claim form and return it to the tribunal within the relevant time limit.

You can either complete a paper or online version.  A paper version is available as a downloadable pdf document from the tribunal’s website or alternatively you can register with the site and submit an ETI using an online version.  If forwarding your ET1 by post it must be officially received by the tribunal office and not just posted.

This is referred to as lodging your claim.

The ET1 is an important form and will be the first document the tribunal will read, therefore it is important to give a clear and concise account of your complaint.  It is important that you include all key events you are complaining about, as you may not be allowed to add this information once lodged.  The form provides space for you to write a statement about your claim and you should write about the events in the same order they occurred.  It is advisable to use numbered paragraphs.  You can use additional pages.  However you should avoid details about every little thing that happened.
