Protecting Your Rights After Brexit - No Matter What
We are here to help protect your equality and human rights after Brexit - No Matter What.
The UK Government put in place important safeguards to help ensure that certain equality and human rights in Northern Ireland remain protected after Brexit.
This commitment applies to the provisions as set out in the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement, some of which are underpinned by EU laws. These protect against discrimination relating to your gender, race, religion or belief, disability, age, or sexual orientation, and cover areas such as unfair treatment at work, and when using services.
This means that you have the right to bring legal action before the courts if you think there has been a breach of the UK Government’s commitment to protect your rights after Brexit, including by the NI Assembly or the NI Executive.
The Equality Commission, and our partner the NI Human Rights Commission, has an important role to make sure that these rights continue to be protected. We can provide advice and assistance, including, in some circumstances, support in bringing legal action in our courts.
