Equality Commission supporting Pride 2022

Equality Commission supporting Pride 2022
22/07/2022
Equality Commission press release

The Equality Commission is proud to support Pride. This year marks twenty years of the Commission working with and supporting Belfast Pride.

Speaking about Belfast Pride 2022, Chief Commissioner, Geraldine McGahey said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s Pride week, after two years of being online, it’s great that we are able to come together in person again.”

“I’ll be attending and participating in this year’s Pride Awards and Pride Talks Back, while my colleagues are making preparations for the Commission’s stall at Pride Village.”

“Pride is a time for us to get out and stand shoulder to shoulder with our vibrant LGBT+ community. It’s a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made towards equality for this community. But it is also a time for us to acknowledge that there is still so much more to do as we work to create an inclusive and equal society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.”

“I’d like to encourage everyone to get out and celebrate with our friends, family and colleagues in the LGBTQIA+ community and show them just how proud of them we are”, concluded Ms McGahey.
