COVID-19 and discrimination
You are still protected by the law, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.  All the equality and anti-discrimination laws remain the same.

If you feel that you have been discriminated against in work or in trying to access goods, facilities or services, you can still contact our discrimination advice team for free and confidential advice on the law and what your options are.

- working or seeking work
- buying or renting goods, services and housing
- using educational services provided by primary and secondary schools


Various protections exist in relation to age, disability, race, religious or similar philosophical belief, political opinion, sex, married or civil partnership status, pregnancy & maternity, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

Early conciliation service

The Labour Relations Agency  (LRA) provides a free conciliation service.  If you are considering taking a discrimination complaint at work to tribunal you must register your complaint with the LRA before starting proceedings.
